Half our backyard was a dirt pile when we first moved in. It took a few months of work and 400 square yards of sod. Our yard is so much nicer! And we can eat fresh vegetables right from our garden!
Check out the before and after pics below:

Please help us identify this tree. We love the large bright green leaves. We found this tree on a side street on Lower Queen Anne and would love to have one in our front yard.

Sunny and I ate frozen yogurt at Menchies with Sadie and Charlie. We love this place! What a great idea! At Menchies you taste different flavors of frozen yogurt with as many toppings as you want. Delicious.

Banana is the new addition to our family! I’ve wanted a banana for years, but haven’t had the room or sunlight. This Valentines Day my wonderful husband bought me my beautiful banana, and I couldn’t be happier…BEST gift ever! Flower’s are nice, but they only last so long.
You’re probably thinking…is banana a banana tree??? NO, that’s just what we’ve named him/her. Banana is a Fiddling Fig tree from tropical West Africa. If planted outdoors they are said to grow up to 50 ft. high. But since we are not in a tropical climate banana will stay in doors and grow from 8-20 ft. (our living room ceiling is only 10 ft.). We’ve named our fig banana because bananas are good and monkeys like bananas…Kevin calls me a Monkey.

Kevin and I bought our first home!!! We are beyond thrilled to be new homeowners. We have lived in my small 700 square foot condo (The Ballard) for the past 2.5 years. Obviously, we were comfortable but our hearts were never planted there. But I knew that God had a plan for us and so we waited patiently until the time was right. A few months ago (Aug. 27th to be exact) a beautiful 1929 English Tudor in a fantastic neighborhood became available so we jumped. I sent Kevin an email (heading “My Dream Home”) the day it came onto the market, and that afternoon we made arrangements with our Agent (Carol Ard) to check it out. The next day we went for a visit. I walked in to the beautiful jewel and immediately had that good feeling (which I believe goes a long way in home buying!) and 3 days later we made the offer.
We refinished the floors, gutted and remodeled the kitchen and 1st floor bath, painted, added insulation, all new plumbing and updated the knob and tube electrical. Most everything so we had a clean slate to move in. There’s a LOT more to do- the old house needs work! We’ll keep you up to date…Y’all will probably want us to shut-up about my little jewel box by the end of it.

It seems like this long weekend always marks the end of summer – one last chance to soak in a little sunshine! We’ll be honoring Labor Day with a hike and negotiating a serious project. Fill you in later!

Kelli and Shawn have a beautiful new home. We had a fun time at their open house BBQ. And Shawn can cook!
We also celebrated Adam’s graduation.
