Honeymoon in Maui!

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 at 9:38 pm

We booked our honeymoon in Maui! We will be staying at the Westin Resort & Spa on the spectacular Ka’anapali Beach. The Westin hotel surrounds five pools, our room is one of the best, with an incredible view. The hotel is right on the beach. Sunny and I are going to lay out by the pool every morning and snorkel the rest of the day. We booked non-stop flights on Alaskan Airlines.

I copied the images below from the hotel’s website. In August we’ll post our own photos. I can’t wait!

Breakfast at Voula’s

Saturday, May 24th, 2008 at 9:15 pm

Voula’s Offshore is one of my favorite restaurants for my favorite meal of the day, breakfast! Voula’s is located on Lake Union in Seattle and serves American with a Greek twist. This morning I ate pork chops and eggs, while Sunny ate Voula’s famous Hobo. Their food is outstanding and the coffee never ends!

Gilead Walk for Cystic Fibrocis

Sunday, May 18th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

We walked miles for a cure for Cystic Fibrocis in an event sponsored by Sunny’s company, Gilead Sciences. Starting at the Seattle Center, we walked down to the waterfront and back up. Sunny helped arrange the very successful event, which made it even more fun. Afterwards we ate barbeque in the shade of a tree. And I got a free hat from Gilead!

Our Mother’s Day

Sunday, May 11th, 2008 at 11:55 pm

Today we celebrated Mother’s Day. Our first stop was to the Ver Hoeven side.

Kevin has a very large family on both sides, so usually his parents host at their house. They have this 40 person table that runs almost the entire length of the house. It stretches from the dinning-room to the living room. But this time it was a bit more intimate with only about 15 of us. We did miss Khai, who usually likes to take a good snooze on the couch after a good homemade meal. However we did have Uncle Richard who is the family photographer.

Out next visit was to the Andersen’s. Ian and Dria had everyone over to their new house on Magnolia. My side of the family is much smaller with a total of about 12. But that’s a good number for us, cause anymore than that might get a bit out of control. We’re still working on our table manner’s sometimes food in thrown and if it’s a really good dinner some of us lick our plates. As you can see in the photos above we might get a little silly at times.

For some couples, choosing where to go on a holiday would be hard. But fortunately, both our families live close and are very important to us, so we are able to celebrate these special times with everyone.

Let’s go out and pick some flowers
And make a big bouquet;
We must bring a special gift
To Mom on Mother’s Day!

Here’s a rose, and there’s a daisy
For our Mom’s bouquet,
Pretty flowers to show we love her
More and more each day!

Wedding Cake

Saturday, May 10th, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Sunny and I picked out our wedding cake! This must have been the most difficult decision of the entire wedding so far. We are going with marzipan, an almond flavored icing that can be shaped into any form. On a wedding cake, marzipan is king!

Our cake will be a three-tiered cake adorned with real flowers. I am not a fan of sweets, but when I bit into one of these heavenly slices of goodness, I couldn’t stop eating! Delicious! We are ordering the cake from Nielsen’s Pastries in Seattle.

Happy Cinco de Mayo Greenlake!

Monday, May 5th, 2008 at 8:53 pm

Sunny and I walked around Greenlake after work today. The weather was perfect for a stroll, and Greenlake was packed. Along the way we passed a Puggle that was the color of brown sugar. The setting sun made the water glisten a yellow-orange color. I was so mesmerized that I nearly jumped in for a swim.

Afterwards we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Sunny’s parent’s house with daquiries and fajitas.

We Registered!

Sunday, May 4th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

We are registered at Macys and Williams Sonoma. Registering for our wedding was a lot of fun, but afterwards I was worn out. At Macys I was in charge of the scanner and got to scan anything I wanted. You’ll see a blackjack table and back-scratcher along with Sunny’s selections of spatulas and crystal stemware. I’ve added links to the stores we registered at below.

Save the Date Magnets

Sunday, May 4th, 2008 at 3:04 pm

We mailed the Save the Date magnets last week. Already some of our friends are receiving them. It amazes me to think that our wedding is only three months away… I’ve attached a copy of the Save the Date photo below. This was taken across the river from the Eiffel Tower.
